Privacy Policy & POPIA Notice
How Rapid Intel collects, uses, protects and shares personal information, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013.
1. Who we are
Rapid Intel is a South African intelligence technology company. For the purposes of the Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013 (POPIA), Rapid Intel is the responsible party for the personal information described in this policy.
Enquiries about this policy, or about the personal information we hold, can be sent to info@rapidintel.co.za or 064 908 7033.
2. Information we collect
We only collect personal information that is necessary for a clearly defined purpose. Through this website that is usually:
- Contact details you submit through our enquiry form — name, organisation, email address, phone number and the content of your message.
- Messages you send us by email or WhatsApp.
- Basic technical data generated by your browser, such as pages visited and approximate location, used only to keep the site secure and working.
3. Why we process it
We process personal information to respond to enquiries, provide quotations and information about our services, manage client relationships, meet legal or contractual obligations, and improve the website. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for automated decision-making that has legal consequences for you.
4. Lawful basis and consent
Where you submit an enquiry, processing is based on your consent and on the steps necessary to enter into or perform a contract with you. You may withdraw consent at any time by contacting us, although this may prevent us from responding to your request.
5. Operational data and surveillance technology
In client deployments, our platform may process video, sensor, drone and other operational data that can contain personal information. In those engagements the client is ordinarily the responsible party and Rapid Intel acts as an operator under section 20 and 21 of POPIA, processing data only on the client's documented instruction and under a written agreement that imposes appropriate confidentiality and security obligations.
Deployments are configured for defined, lawful purposes — safety, security, infrastructure protection and operational awareness — and not for indiscriminate monitoring of individuals.
6. Sharing of information
We share personal information only with service providers who help us operate — for example, form-delivery, email and hosting providers — and only to the extent needed. Where information is processed outside South Africa, we take reasonable steps to ensure the recipient is subject to comparable protection, as required by section 72 of POPIA. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.
7. Security safeguards
We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against loss, unauthorised access and misuse, including encrypted transport, access control and the principle of least privilege. If a security compromise occurs, we will notify the Information Regulator and affected data subjects as required by section 22 of POPIA.
8. Retention
We keep personal information only for as long as it is needed for the purpose it was collected, or for as long as a law or contract requires. Enquiry records are ordinarily retained for the duration of the business relationship and a reasonable period thereafter, after which they are deleted or de-identified.
9. Your rights
Under POPIA you have the right to:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you and request access to it.
- Request correction, deletion or destruction of inaccurate, irrelevant or excessive information.
- Object to processing on reasonable grounds.
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
- Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator.
10. Direct marketing
We will only send you electronic marketing where you have consented or are an existing customer, and every message will include a simple way to opt out.
11. Cookies
This website uses only the minimal storage required for the site to function. We do not run advertising trackers. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
